Important Update for U.S. Travelers to the United Kingdom

Starting January 8, 2025, all U.S. citizens visiting the UK will need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before their trip.

What is an ETA? An ETA is a mandatory entry requirement for visa-exempt travelers, including U.S. citizens, visiting the UK.
Application Process:
- When to Apply: It's recommended to apply well in advance of your travel dates.
- How to Apply: Applications can be submitted online or via the UK ETA app, available on the App Store and Google Play.
- Information Needed: A valid passport, email address, and a payment method for the application fee.
- Processing Time: Most applications are processed within 72 hours, but it's advisable to apply earlier to account for any delays.
Validity: The ETA is valid for two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first, and allows multiple entries into the UK for stays of up to six months.
Cost: The application fee is approximately $13 (£10).

Passport Validity: Ensure your passport is valid for the duration of your stay.
Travel Purpose: The ETA covers tourism, family visits, business meetings, conferences, and short-term study.
